NETS Cowork – Sustainability and Remote Work in Sri Lanka
NETS Cowork in Ahangama is much more than a coworking and coliving space. It’s a destination that combines remote work, sustainability and social impact in a welcoming and inspiring environment. Located near paradisiacal beaches and surrounded by Sri Lanka’s lush nature, this space offers a perfect balance between productivity and relaxation.
Female Empowerment and Sustainability
One of NETS Cowork’s most admirable initiatives is its focus on female empowerment. The team is made up predominantly of women from the Ahangama area who receive ongoing training to become qualified professionals in the hospitality sector. This commitment not only provides opportunities for personal and economic development, but also strengthens the surrounding community.
The space also stands out for its environmental commitment. They offer water refill stations, encouraging guests to avoid using disposable plastic bottles. In addition, sustainable practices are promoted, such as recycling and the use of local and ecological products in all services.
Accommodation, Coliving and coworking
NETS Cowork offers a comfortable and functional coliving experience, ideal for digital nomads and professionals who can work remotely. The rooms are well-equipped, with a choice of queen-size beds, air conditioning and private bathrooms. The attention to detail in the pink decor and the comfort of the spaces create a “home away from home” feeling.
Guests have access to common areas that promote both productivity and leisure, including a new swimming pool for moments of relaxation and revitalizing breaks between work. The coworking areas are modern, with high-speed internet, designed to inspire focus and creativity.
At NETS Cowork, sustainability meets productivity with the help of a solar energy backup system. This solution ensures that WiFi is always available, 24 hours a day, even during power cuts. For remote workers, this means a reliable, uninterrupted connection, essential for important calls or tight deadlines. As well as guaranteeing functionality, this system reinforces the space’s commitment to ecological practices, reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources and promoting a positive environmental impact. Did I mention that coworking is on the Rooftop?

Healthy and sustainable breakfasts and a sense of community
However, one of the best parts of staying at NETS Cowork is undoubtedly the healthy and flavorful breakfast. With vegan and gluten-free options, the meals are prepared with fresh, local ingredients, bringing the best of Sri Lanka to the table. As well as energizing the start of the day, these moments offer a unique opportunity to socialize with other nomads and professionals. Thus, in a simple way, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere is created. It’s the perfect balance between well-being and community!
At NETS Cowork, on Sundays, it’s time to put the screens aside and enjoy a lively session of board games; between bursts of laughter and the occasional sore loser, friendships are made for life. In addition, NETS Cowork organizes other social and cultural events that make the stay even more special. These events create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for meeting new people. They are a tremendous help in integrating into this vibrant community of digital nomads.
Surfing, yoga, swimming pool and much more
For those who love staying active, surfing at the beaches of Ahangama and nearby areas is a must to enjoy Sri Lanka’s waves. If you prefer a moment of calm, you can opt for a yoga session, perfect for restoring energy and finding balance between body and mind. I recommend Senses, where I had the opportunity to do yoga in the middle of nature. It’s easy to walk in and go to class. Just check the timetable on their Instagram.
And if you’re looking for something more relaxing, the NETS Cowork pool is the perfect spot to unwind. Or perhaps take a stroll along the beaches, soaking in the serene atmosphere. Here are some more ideas of what you can do in the area.
A few steps away you will find Cactusa perfect place to enjoy a cocktail while watching the incredible sunset, and catch a glimpse of the Ahangama fishermen, one of the highlights of the area.
I didn’t have much chance to try the local cuisine in the area surrounding this coliving because I was so caught up in enjoying the facilities and trying to be as productive as possible, and I ended up cooking more than usual.
You’ll also find plenty of options with Western food, a Boho vibe with a relaxed atmosphere, healthy dishes and stunning sea views.
Business Retreats: Collaboration and Innovation in Sri Lanka
NETS Cowork also offers a corporate retreat service, ideal for teams looking for an inspiring environment to improve cohesion, creativity and productivity. In addition to coworking and coliving facilities, companies can organize personalized activities, brainstorming sessions and workshops in a place designed to promote collaboration and innovation. Nothing better for a good Team workation!
This stay was crucial for me because I was able to spend 72 hours focusing on my Peggada and Nomads & Pirates projects.
